A warm welcome to all our Kalahari Red breeders. I think this will be the last “warm” one before the winter is upon us.  A lot has happened in the past month!

It was the National Championship in Willowmore and the Kalahari Red club auction in Pretoria. National Championship

Daar was elke aand ‘n funksie. Nogmaals baie, baie geluk, dit was great!

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – WILLOWMORE We arrived in Willowmore on Sunday 23 March 2014 with two trailers full of Kalahari Red goats. The town was dead quiet, only a few peoplewere on their way to church. Every small town has their own characteristic monument, usually the church in the middle of the town. It’s wonderful to see that all races worship a living God. I thank God for the opportunity to have experienced this again in Willowmore. We arrived at the showground’s and were the first people to offload Kalahari Reds. There were a few Boer goats from Karsten stud. We started to wash and feed our goats so that they could have a good rest before the show. The next four days the competition was fierce. Good competition, stressful and humoristic moments. The hospitality was excellent. Because Willowmore is a very small town, everybody met in the evenings at the showground’s. There was a function every evening. I have to congratulate Kobus Lotter and his team with an excellent job. The facilities at the showground’s were excellent and everything went well. The judges did a great job judging the animals and everybody was satisfied and I didn’t hear any complaints. Although everybody was in serious competition during the day in the ring, we had a good time in the evenings. The breeders, who didn’t attend the show in Willowmore, missed out on a great event. We are thankful that our goats did very well. The Grand Champion ram as well as the Grand Champion doe came from our stud. The quality of the animals wasa very high standard. YET ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL AUCTION HELD 12 APRIL 2014 AT CONRAD HERBST We just want to thank everybody for the hard work they put in to making the Kalahari Red auction such a huge success. It already started on the 9th of April when the first farmers arrived with goats. The rest of the goats arrived on the 10th and 11th of April and everybody was busy grooming. On Friday morning Dr Danie Nolte came and did all the scanning before the big judging. Only the best was good enough for this auction. Out of 135 entries only 126 were put up for auction.  The judges wereRuan Smith, AndréPienaar and Tollie Jordaan – a big thank you to you guys.  Then the big day arrived – Auction Day. There were 112 ewes and 14 rams on auction and 102 ewes and 9 rams were sold. The average price for pregnant Kalahari Red ewes was R8262.50 and R4 609.17 for non-pregnant ewes. The average price on the rams was R17055.56.
